Harrisburg Men Lose in Literally Final Second of 2OT

Harrisburg droped their first contest of the season to Hood College Saturday 3-2 in double overtime thriller.  The Lions drop to 3-1 on the season while Hood improves to 2-2 on the year.

The Blazers of Hood jumped on the Lions early in Saturdays contest taking a two goals lead into the half in a downpour at Penn State Harrisburg.  Goals by the Blazer's Paul Windsor and Joe Benton put the Lions in a deep hole after the initial 45 minutes of play.

The Blue and White went back to the drawing board and came out firing in the second half.  A goalkeeper switch for Hood and a rejuvenated Lions team made a huge difference in the second half.  Chase Vilga (Mount Joy, Pa. / Donegal) started the comeback with a goal in the 49th minute.  Less than seven minutes later, Aaron Kline (Lebanon, Pa. / Eastern Lebanon County) added the eqalizing goal to tie the game up at two midway through the second half.

The teams battled all the way to a second overtime and in the very last second of double overtime, Hood's Drew Demich netted the game winning goal as time expired to give the Blazers the victory in dramatic fashion.

"Obviously this was a very tough loss to take. But we have to hold our hands up and say that Hood deserved it today. Penn State Harrisburg head coach Seamus Donnelly continued with,  "We need to regroup, take our medicine, and get ready to go again on Tuesday and go on another run. We have the talent and the character to do just that".

Harrisburg will get back at it Tuesday September 16th when they travel to Marywood for a 4:00 pm kick off.
