MT. WOLF, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's golf team opened its 2019-20 campaign at the two-day Spartan Invitational hosted by York (Pa.) and wrapped up its weekend of competition at Royal Manchester Golf Links on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 8.
After combining to shoot a 361 on Saturday afternoon, the Lions responded with a nice round of 322 during the final day of the invitational. The squad's two-day total of 683 (+107) was good enough to earn the Blue & White a 13th-place finish out of 14 competing schools.
"I'm so proud of how the guys bounced back today with a solid team effort after a rough first day," said Penn State Harrisburg head coach Jason Badecki. "Instead of feeling sorry for themselves, they went out determined to play for each other. It's a huge step in turning the mindset and culture of the program around."
Andrew Fink led the way, shooting a solid 78 on Sunday after posting an 88 the previous day. His total of 166 (+22) secured him a 55th-place finish out of 80 individual golfers.
Chad Yoder also shot a 78 during just the third round of his collegiate career, bringing his two-day total to 170 (+26) and earning him a 64th-place finish. Luke Ehler (171, +27), Josh Swartz (176, +32) and Montana Gleason (187, +43) rounded out Penn State Harrisburg's five-man contingency.
The Lions will return to action when they take part in the Frederick W. Anton III Memorial Invitational hosted by Swarthmore on Sunday, Sept. 15.
