Lions Claim another 2nd Place Finish at Elizabethtown Invitational

Lions Claim another 2nd Place Finish at Elizabethtown Invitational

Hershey, Pa. – The Penn State Harrisburg golf team has been on impressive run over the past few weeks claiming a 1st, 3rd, and now two back to back second place finishes in their most recent outings.  Unfortunately for the Lions, Messiah College was again the only team able to keep them from claiming another tournament win.

Tyler Massar (Lebanon, Pa. / Cedar Crest) claimed a fourth place finish to lead the Blue and White at the Elizabethtown Invitational held on Thursday April 9th.  What is most impressive about this young team is how many different top finishers the team has boasted so far this spring.

Massar led the team today with a 78 (+7), while the remaining four competitors were all within five strokes of each other.  With all the Lions men finishing so close together regularly at the top of the table, they are showing why the team is ready for the upcoming conference championships.

Messiah College has been the only team to beat the Lions in the past two events, but Harrisburg cut the deficit in half, losing by just twelve strokes Thursday.  Harrisburg finished ahead of Stevenson, Alvernia, and Lebanon Valley College who rounded out the top five.

The Lions return to action next Thursday at the Wilson Invitational and then go directly south to Christopher Newport for the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) championships April 17-19.
