Lions Finish Seventh; Serres Earns Top Ten Spot at Gettysburg

ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. – In the team's third outing of the 2013-14 season, Penn State Harrisburg shot a combined +30, 318, good enough to earn the Lions a seventh place finish at the Gettysburg Invitational on Thursday afternoon, Sep. 19.  Sophomore Tyler Serres (Camp Hill, Pa. / Trinity) was the squad's low-man, shooting a +3, 75 and earning a collegiate-best share of sixth place overall. 

The invitational, held at the Bridges Golf Club, was won as a team by McDaniel thanks to a +13, 301 total  while the Green Terror's Steven Tanen took home the individual championship by shooting an even par, 72.      

Serres led the way for the Blue & White thanks to his first top ten finish as a member of Penn State Harrisburg's golf team.  The Lions next best finisher was freshman Matthew Hoare (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley).  The frosh shot a +7, 79 while senior Jason Long (Rockhill Furnace, Pa. / Southern Huntingdon County) and sophomore Mark Paradise (Moscow, Pa. / North Pocono) each shot a +10, 82, good enough to earn the pair a share of 38th place overall.  Freshman Tyler Shank (Palmyra, Pa. / Palmyra Area), coming off one of his best performances of the young season over the weekend at the Tom Kinder Memorial, rounded out the team's group with a +12, 84, good enough for a share of 46th place.

Penn State Harrisburg will look to build off the momentum they gained at Gettysburg's event when the Lions take part in the Franklin & Marshall Invitational next Monday, Sep. 23 in the squad's next outing.
