Long Finishes in Top Ten at Rutgers Camden Invitational

Long Finishes in Top Ten at Rutgers Camden Invitational

Jason Long (Rockhill Furnace, Pa. / Southern Huntingdon County) lead the charge for Harrisburg today.  Long, last weeks NEAC player of the week, has been steadily improving since last fall and showed his improvement with his +8, 78 round that was good enough for a tie for 9th place overall.

The rest of the team all finished in a close group with Chris Murphy (Harrisburg, Pa. / Susquehanna Township) coming in second for the team and 26th overall with his +12.  He was followed by Matt Rowe (Lebanon, Pa. / Elco) +13, Matt Plummer(Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) +14, and Tyler Gentzler (Milroy, Pa. / Mifflin County) +16.

Messiah College finished in first place with a 304 team round + 24.  The Blue & White took 7th place with a 327, just two strokes behind NEAC rival Penn State Berks.  This could be an interesting battle at the conference championships at the end of this month.

The Lions head to the Franklin and Marshall Invitational on Monday in hopes of continuing to improve on their scores from this season.  Getting some better weather would be a nice adjustment as most of this Spring's play has been in rough conditions.
