How It Happened

Penn State Harrisburg opened North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play with a 78-61 road victory over Wells on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 7.

The Lions (5-3, 1-0 NEAC) were led by a career-high 18 points from Nate Curry, as well as 16 points and seven assists from Zegary Scott III. Kalonji Parker buried four jumpers from beyond the arc to tally 12 points, while Donyae Baylor-Carroll netted 11 and dished out six assists.

The visitors erased an early 7-2 deficit and eventually pulled ahead 17-10 following a Curry layup off a Dylan Daniels assist at the 10:55 mark of the opening half. The Blue & White stretched the lead to nine points thanks to a Parker triple off a Scott III feed with three minutes left before halftime.

The Express (1-7, 0-1 NEAC) cut the deficit to 35-33 at the break but Penn State Harrisburg responded with a nice run coming out of the locker room that ended when a Curry jumper off a Chris Haynes feed put the visitors out in front 48-40 with 13:43 left to play.

A Pedro Rodriguez layup off a pass from Baylor-Carroll pushed the Lions' lead to double-digits for the first time at the 8:47 mark and an ensuing 12-3 run capped by a Charles Faulconer 3-pointer set the Blue & White up with a 20-point advantage with 5:24 remaining.

Inside the Numbers

- The Lions shot 47.4 percent from the field, compared to 36.2 percent from the floor for Wells.

- The Blue & White shot a stout 48.4 percent from 3-point range.

- Penn State Harrisburg assisted on 22 of its 27 made field goals.

- The visitors finished with a slight edge in the rebounding battle at 39-36.

- Nate Curry netted a game-high 18 points and pulled down five rebounds.

- Zegary Scott III scored 16 to go along with seven assists and three steals.

- Kalonji Parker was hot from downtown, going 4-5 from 3-point land to total 12 points.

- Donyae Baylor-Carroll tallied 11 points and dished out six assists.

- Dylan Daniels grabbed eight boards to go along with four blocks and four points.

- Pedro Rodriguez added five points and Charles Faulconer chipped in with six off the bench.

- Zach D'Arpino's 11 points led the way for Wells.

Who's Next?

The Lions will enjoy a month-long break before resuming play by facing Elizabethtown on the opening night of the Spooky Nook Tournament on Friday afternoon, Jan. 3.
