How It Happened

Penn State Harrisburg dropped a down-to-the-wire heartbreaker on the road on Tuesday night, falling to Wilson 70-69 in a contest that wasn't decided until the final buzzer.

Zegary Scott III was the only Penn State Harrisburg player to reach double digits but led all scorers with 22 points and eight assists. Nate Curry just missed out on a double-double with 12 rebounds and nine points, while Pedro Rodriguez, Donyae Baylor-Carroll and Kalonji Parker added nine points apiece.

The Lions (4-3) were never able to pull ahead in the second half, despite drawing even with the Phoenix (2-6) multiple times in the final minutes. After the home team took a two-point lead thanks to an Adrian Thomas jumper in the closing second, the Blue & White had a chance to send the game to overtime with a pair of free throws. The first attempt was true but unfortunately, the second missed the mark and allowed Wilson to escape with the narrowest of victories.

Penn State Harrisburg trailed 40-35 at halftime but led by as many as seven points midway through the first half following a Rodriguez layup off an assist from Baylor-Carroll at the 10:47 mark. Wilson closed out the opening half on a 24-12 run to reclaim the lead and take a slim advantage into the break.
