How It Happened

Penn State Harrisburg earned its first true road win of the season with a hotly-contested 71-65 victory at Marywood on Tuesday night, Nov. 20.

Chris Bing just missed out on a double-double, finishing with a team-high 18 points and nine rebounds to lead the Blue & White (4-1). Donyae Baylor-Carroll posted 12 points thanks to four 3-pointers and Kahlil Williams was the third Harrisburg player to reach the double-digit scoring mark with 11 tallies.

The fact that neither squad jumped out to a lead larger than eight all night was proof of the contest's back-and-forth nature. The eight minutes alone saw five lead changes and three ties.

The Pacers (3-3) took an early lead at 9-4 but the visitors responded well, creating some breathing room following a Williams layup off a Scott assist and a Bradley DaBella 3-pointer off a Keenan Wise feed that put the visitors out in front 20-13 midway through the first half.

The Lions grabbed their largest lead of the game when Bing pulled down an offensive rebound and converted a layup to put his squad ahead 27-19 at the 4:05 mark but Marywood used an 8-4 run to end the half and cut the deficit to 31-27 heading into the break.

The second half saw the lead change six times during a span of 9:51 before a DaBella jumper from beyond the arc put Penn State Harrisburg up 51-49 with 10:09 left to play. A couple of layups from Bing kept the Pacers at bay for a brief moment but a 3-pointer from Marywood's Tone Cockrell gave the home team a one-point advantage with 2:43 remaining.

Nelson halted the Marywood momentum with a triple of his own during the Lions' next trip down the floor and Bing's conversion of an old-fashioned 3-point play off an assist from Baylor-Carroll put Harrisburg up 65-60 with 1:47 left.

After a couple of empty possessions, the home team was forced to foul and Scott, Gbolahan Alliyu and Brandon Coleman combined to convert six free throws in crunch time to seal the hard-fought victory.

Inside the Numbers

- Penn State Harrisburg shot 41.3 percent from the field, while the Pacers shot 42.3 percent from the floor.

- The Lions shot 35 percent from beyond the arc, while Marywood shot just 28.6 percent from 3-point territory.

- The Blue & White won the rebounding battle 44-33, leading to 18 second chance points.

- The Harrisburg bench outscored the Marywood reserves 29-17.

- Chris Bing posted season highs of 18 points and nine rebounds to lead the way for the Lions.

- All 12 of Donyae Baylor-Carroll's points came from distance. He also added three boards and a pair of blocks.

- Kahlil Williams did a little bit of everything, scoring 11 points and recording five rebounds, three assists and three steals.

- Gbolahan Alliyu pulled down seven rebounds to go along with four points and three blocks.

- Ibn-Haneef Nelson added nine points, six boards and a pair of steals.

- Zegary Scott III and Bradley DaBella chipped in with six points each.

- Brandon Coleman finished with five points and four rebounds off the bench.

- Jeremy Ringland netted a game-high 19 points for the Pacers, while Thomas Swartz recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 boards.
