Lions Drop Heartbreaker to the Saints

Middletown, Pa.- Wednesday February 10th the Penn State Harrisburg men's basketball team hosted the Marymount Saints. The Lions were looking to win their fourth straight conference game. The visitors took an early lead but Harrisburg battled back until the last 30 seconds where the Saints scored last and took home the win, 63-62.

Marymount led for the opening ten minutes of the game as Harrisburg struggled to get on the board. With twelve minutes to go, the Saints led the Lions, 21-7. Anthony Morgan (York, Pa. / New Hope Academy) stepped up for his first lay up to try and slow the Saints down. Jourdon Wilson (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) followed up with his second jumper of the day as Harrisburg started to gain momentum. The Lions went on an 8-0 run, led by a three from Jazmon Harris (Baltimore, Md. / Patterson) followed by Morgan who tied the game up for the first time with 5:07 left in the first half.

Penn State Harrisburg started the second half down 33-32, but it did not last long as the the Lions went on an early 10-0 run and found themselves in the lead 44-38 with 11:54 to go in the game.  Marymount responded immediately with a 7-0 run of their own which still had the Lions up one 48-47.  The final ten minutes of play stayed very close with both teams trying to make the most of every possession as the both teams struggled to maintain a lead for any length of time.
As the final minute of play was winding down, Arick Sodini (Manalapan, N.J / St. John Vianney) hit a monster three pointer with 57 seconds to go to take a 62-61 lead.  Unfortunately, it was short lived as Marymount answered with a jumper with 30 seconds to play.  The Lions had a final opportunity to tie or win the game, but it was not to be.

Penn State Harrisburg is now in a four-way tie for fourth place in the CAC and will travel to St. Mary's (also 7-8) in a contest with major playoff implications.   Tip-off is set for 4:00 pm on Saturday February 13th.
