Penn State Harrisburg Holds Off York (Pa.)

York, Pa.- Saturday January 2nd, the Penn State Harrisburg men's basketball team was back in action this afternoon to take on York (Pa.). The Spartans led for the first few minutes of the first half but the Lions pulled ahead and went on to lead for the majority of the game. The home team made one last effort in the second half to come back but Harrisburg stayed strong and won 76-72. 

The home team came out strong at the start of the game by leading Harrisburg 6-2. This lead did not last long before Jazmon Harris (Baltimore, Md. / Patterson) hit his first three pointer of the day. Harris would go on to score five more throughout the game. Freshman Clinton Asalu (Willingboro, N.J. / Burlington County Institute of Technology Westampton) went on to make a lay up that gave Harrisburg the lead for the remainder of the first half. Junior Jourdon Wilson (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) contributed two three's in the first half that helped give Harrisburg their biggest lead of the day at 27-18. 

As the second half got underway, York (Pa.) made several attempts to get back on top. The Spartans hit a three to bring Harrisburg's lead down to only three several times throughout the second half. Harrisburg made huge defensive plays in the second half to secure their win. As the clock ticked down to only four minutes to go, York led Harrisburg 70-67, for their first time of the half. Freshman Kahlil Williams (Philadelphia, Pa. / Central) fought underneath the basket to put Harrisburg back on top with a bucket. Harris sealed the Lions victory with his sixth three of the night and two free throws. Harris had a season high game with 26 points and three rebounds. Wilson also had a season high with 18 points and two rebounds. The men are now 3-1 in conference play and will have the chance to get their fourth conference win this week. 

Penn State Harrisburg will host Christopher Newport on Wednesday January 6th. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 pm.
