Wolverines Clinch Playoff Berth with Win over Lions

The Lions came into their game on Wednesday February 18th against the Wesley Wolverines knowing their post season hopes were out of reach.  That would not stop Penn State Harrisburg from putting together one of their best home performances of the season.

As the game tipped off, the Lions Arick Sodini (Manalapan, Nj. / St. John Vianney) wasted no time scoring the first two points of the game.  Both teams then battled point for point as neither team was able to hold a lead for long and the score remained with six points for the entire first half.  The Lions led going into the locker rooms 35-31.

As the second half started, the game remained as tight as it had in the first. Although the pace definitely slowed down as there were a combined 46 fouls between the two teams.  Either team could have pulled out the win in the end, but Wesley won the foul shot game in the final minutes as well as hit a big three every time it was called for.  The Wolverines clinched a playoff berth with the 78-71 win.

Sodini was dominate for the Blue and White leading the team with 16 points.  Senior Alberto De Los Santos (East Pennsboro, Pa. / East Pennsboro) also did his part scoring 15 and going 7-7 from the free throw line.  Anthony Morgan (York, Pa / New Hope Academy) led the team in rebounds with nine as well as adding 11 points.

The Lions will finish their 2014-2015 campaign Saturday February 21st when they face off against the Christopher Newport Captains for their Senior Day game.  Senior players will be honored at just before the 3:00 p.m. tip-off.
