Salisbury Second Half Run Deals Lions Loss at Home

Salisbury Second Half Run Deals Lions Loss at Home

Middletown, PA – The Penn State Harrisburg men's basketball team hoped to claim their second win over the Salisbury Seagulls Sunday January 25th.   Salisbury was coming into the Capital Union Building with an 8-2 record since their loss at home to the Lions in early December.

The Blue and White got off to a solid start taking a 14-8 lead with 7:42 to play in the first half.  The visitors bounced back and were able to claim a one point lead after Tariq Bennett (Philadelphia, Pa. / Milton Hershey School) scored a three on the buzzer to steal the momentum going into the half,  despite the Lions being down 27-26.

Unfortunately, Salisbury showed why they have been on such a hot streak with their second half performance.  Penn State Harrisburg had the game tied at 30 before the Seagulls took flight two minutes into the second half.  Salisbury used a 22-1 run over a nine minute span, leaving the Lions with no chance of recovery.  Caleb Barwin (Harrisburg, Pa / Bishop McDevitt) was one bright spot for the home squad, leading the team with nine points.

The Blue and White men will need to turn things around quickly if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive as the basketball season reaches the final month of regulation play. The Lions travel Wednesday January 28th to face York College in a game with definite playoff implications.
