Eagles Fly Away Late Against Lions

Middletown, Pa. - On the second annual Orange 4 Owen Day in the Capital Union Building the Penn State Harrisburg Men's basketball team was ready to bring home a win against a sharp shooting Mary Washington backcourt.

Both teams have struggled this season and both teams went after it from the opening tip. Harrisburg jumped out to an early lead, but the shooting of Mary Washington soon tied the game. Just when the Eagles seemed to be pulling away, Senior Alberto De Los Santos (Enola, Pa/ East Pennsboro) started to heat up as he scored 11 straight points for the Lions including three straight deep balls to keep Harrisburg in the game. He finished with 16 points, six rebounds and three assists. Going into halftime the Eagles held a 38- 30 lead to carry all of the momentum into halftime.

The start of the second half was owned by Junior transfer Anthony Morgan (York, Pa/ New Hope Academy) as he controlled the paint at both ends of the court gathering rebound after rebound, leading to multiple second chance opportunities for Harrisburg. Senior Joey Farthing (Lancaster, Pa/ Hempfield) and Junior Arick Sodini (Manalapan, NJ/ St. John Vianney) both had timely shots and clutch plays to bring the Lions back and take a 57-54 lead with 5:32 remaining.

Unfortunately the lead would not last as a Mary Washington triple would tie the game a couple of possesions later. The quickness of Harrisburg guards Nick Seefeldt (Harrisburg, Pa/ Central Dauphin) and Tariq Bennett (Philadelphia, Pa/ Milton Hershey) gave the Eagles trouble as they were able to force them into multiple turnovers. Bennett and Seefeldt combined for four steals.

Harrisburg's gritty effort would not be enough to take down the Eagles as Mary Washington slowly gained a nine point lead and would maintain it to the final horn. The Lions will look to bounce back Wednesday January 21st at 8:00 pm when they host the top seeded Marymount Saints.
