Wolfe and Kline Named Athletes of Year

Middletown, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg men’s soccer player Aaron Kline (Lebanon, Pa. / Eastern Lebanon County) and softball standout Gabby Wolfe (New Milford, Pa. / Blue Ridge) have been named the Penn State Harrisburg 2014-2015 Male and Female Student-Athletes of the Year.

The athlete of the year is awarded to the male and female student-athletes who has excelled above and beyond normal standards academically and athletically.  In addition the recipient of this award will have demonstrated strong leadership abilities.

After transferring as a junior from Division II Bloomsburg, Kline became a CAC first team selection and ECAC Regional selection in his first season with the Lions.  Kline led the team with eight goals, including three game winners.  Along with these goals, he also added two assists to lead the team with 18 points on the season.  Kline led the Lions to a second place regular season finish, a conference finals appearance and an ECAC South Tournament Championship second place finish.

Off the field Kline exemplifies what being a student athlete is all about as he has earned a 3.64 GPA in his Life Science major.  Coach Donnelly had this to say about Aaron, "Aaron has come straight into our school and our soccer program like he belonged here all along.  He has been excellent in every way and is one of those players and people that you just enjoy while you have them.  He had a wonderful season for us and has All-American potential at his feet for next year.  He would be a worthy recipient of male athlete of the year.”

Wolfe is a four year senior and the face of the softball program. She has started all four years for the softball team earning NEAC First Team All-Conference honors during her freshman and sophomore years (2012, 2013) and was one of the first two PSH student-athletes to earn First Team All-CAC Conference honors as a junior (2014).  Without a doubt, she is the most accomplished pitcher in Penn State Harrisburg Softball history with 22 wins and 271 career strikeouts.  She also boasts a lifetime batting average of .323 with 54 doubles, 4 triples and 10 home runs.

As a Mechanical Engineering major, Gabby is a member of the American Society for Mechanical Engineers and graduated in May with a 2.85 GPA.  Based on her performance and work ethic during her internship, she was offered a full time job with Greenman Pederson, Inc.  “I coached Gabby the last four years” head coach Tonya Dengler said, “and I know that she will be a strong leader and essential part of any organization with which she is associated with.”
