Baseball Season Opener Set For This Weekend

Middletown, PA - The Nittany Lion baseball team will kick off their season Friday due to a schedule change with host school Eastern Mennonite. The blue and white will play four games on the road to begin their 2018 campaign.

Orginally set for a Saturday doubleheader, the chance of inclement weather will force the Lions will travel to Harrisonburg, VA earlier to play Eastern Mennonite on Friday at 2:30pm and again on Saturday at 11:00am.  The team will look for redemption this season after dropping two games to the Royals in 2017 during the middle of their 7 game season opening roadtrip.  EMU is off to a good start thus far at 4-2, winning their last three.

The Lions will then travel to Lynchburg, VA on Sunday for a twinbill with the Hornets at 12 & 3pm.

After a tough road start to begin last years season, Penn State Harrisburg won their last 3 games, outscoring their opponents 28-11.

Continuing their win streak into 2018, will be a tough task on the road against fierce opponents, but the team will have confidence behind 2nd Team All-CAC Sophomore Bret Williams.  Bret hit .366 in 37 games last season, reaching base 72 times and driving in 40 RBIs.

The Nittany Lions only graduated 4 players in 2017 and bring back a wealth of experience in every aspect of the game along with a strong and plentiful freshman class.  There is much anticipation to begin the season.
