Late Rally Lifts Lions Past Red Devils

Middletown Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's baseball kept their winning momentum going after beating Stevenson 12-6 on Thursday to win a fifth straight over mid-state foe Dickinson College by the score of 14-6 on Sunday April 19th.

After Dickinson scored to open up the game, the Blue and White had an answer of their own scoring two runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 2-1 lead early on.  Trailing 2-1, Dickinson scored one run in the second, one in the third, two in the fourth and one in the fifth to take a 6-3 lead heading into the sixth inning feeling in control of the contest.

But, after holding Dickinson scoreless in the top of the sixth, the Lions scored two more runs to make it a 6-5 ball game. The Blue and White showed off their muscles when they scored seven runs in the seventh,  led by a two RBI single from Brian Goodling (Carlisle, Pa / Carlisle) to take a 12-6 advantage. The Lion's scored two more runs in the eighth to increase their lead and eventually win the game by the score of 14-6.

Relief pitcher Derek Slagle (York Haven, Pa. / Red Land) picked up the win for Harrisburg, throwing four scoreless innings and seven strikeouts. Kyle Buchman (Orefield, Pa. / Notre Dame) finished the game going three for three with two runs, three RBIs, and three walks.

Penn State Harrisburg will next be in action when they travel to Lebanon Valley College on Monday April 20th, first pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
