#8 Frostburg State Sweep Traveling Lions

Frostburg, Md. – Penn State Harrisburg men's baseball team has had their share of close battles this season, a few solid wins, and have now faced two top ten teams in the country.  Unfortunately on Monday April 6th, the Lions were not able to change the momentum of their 2015 season with a ground shaking upset win over Frostburg State University.

The Bobcats wasted no time showing off why they are such a highly ranked team scoring six runs in the first two innings.  They continued the onslaught in the fourth with one run and then again in the sixth and seventh with an additional eight runs.  The Lions were unable to get anything moving offensively acquiring just five hits in the 15-0 loss.

Game two had a much different feel.  Penn State Harrisburg crossed home plate twice to start off the first inning, but the Bobcats were able to match the effort and keep the game tied at 2-2 going into the second. Derek Slagle (York Haven, Pa. / Red Land) found his groove and along with the Lions defensive help were able to keep the home team off the scoreboard all the way until the sixth inning.

Down 5-2 after the sixth inning burst, Harrisburg stayed in contention until the Bobcats put up four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to seal the victory 9-2.  Bryan Balshy (Palmyra, Pa. / Palmyra), Josh Brubaker (Lancaster, Pa. / Lancaster Christian), and Troy Taber (Park Ridge, N.J. / Park Ridge) all hit double's in the teams loss.

The Lions have a busy week of must win games if they have any hope of extending their season.  Penn State Harrisburg will host York College Tuesday April 7th at 3:30 p.m. in hopes of repeating the performance they had the previous week when they defeated the Spartans 12-7 on the road.
