Myrtle Beach, SC. – The Penn State Harrisburg Baseball team opened their 2015 campaign with two big wins in the first day of the Ripken Experience Spring Break Tournament in South Carolina by beating Penn College 4-0 and 9-6.

In the first game the Lions looked excited jumping on Penn College early scoring two runs in the top of the first with Cody Henry (Halifax, Pa. / Halifax ) and Chris Iocca (North Brunswick, N.J. / N. Brunswick Township) knocking in the RBI's.

The only other scoring for the game happened in the top of the 3rd when the Lions knocked two runs across the plate with an unearned and a RBI from Mitchell Rodkey (Annville, Pa. / Annville-Cleona) doing the damage. Controlling the game on the mound for the Blue and White was Senior Will Chaney (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg) who pitched a complete game with eight strike-outs while only allowing two hits and three walks.

Going into game two, Penn College looked to even the series scoring the first run of the game. After a disappointing first inning the Lions opened it up scoring three runs in the bottom of the second. After allowing Penn College to score four unanswered runs in the third and fourth innings, the Lions started to turn the momentum.  Scoring one run in the bottom of the fourth off a Kyle Buchman (Orefield, Pa. / Notre Dame) double, the Blue and White looked to be turning the tide but a solo shot from Penn College's Zach Weil put the Wildcats up by two.

After Penn College took out their starting pitcher Harrisburg shelled the new keeper of the mound, blasting him for two two-run homeruns by Iocca and Josh Brubaker (Lancaster, Pa. / Lancaster Christian).  After the five run fifth inning, the Lions locked down and didn't allow a runner past second in the last two innings. Brubaker led the day for the Lions, Hitting a perfect 4-4 with two RBIs and a homerun.

The Blue and White will be in action again Tuesday when they play a double header against Bridgewater at 3 p.m.
