Emily Hopkins begins her fifth season as an assistant coach for Penn State Harrisburg's women's volleyball program in 2022.
Most recently, Hopkins helped guide Penn State Harrisburg to a third consecutive postseason appearance for the first time in program history in 2021. The Lions won 19 matches and made a run to the United East Championship Tournament’s semifinal round for the second straight season. Melanie Sheaffer earned United East All-Conference First-Team recognition, while Cheyenna Buckingham secured second-team all-conference honors. Setter Alyssa Snyder also became just the second player in program history to tally 1,000 career assists.
In 2019, she helped lead the program to an impressive turnaround, as the Lions finished the year with a winning record for just the second time in program history. The Blue & White tallied 15 wins and earned the No. 2 seed in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Playoff Tournament before falling in the semifinal found. Three players in Brittany Ebaugh (1T), Alexis Imler (2T) and Katelyn Kreider (3T) earned all-conference honors for their efforts, with Ebaugh being named the NEAC Defensive Player of the Year. Ebaugh also received ECAC All-Conference recognition and won the NCAA Statistical Championship in the category of block solos.
Hopkins was a standout at Lebanon Valley during her collegiate playing career, earning a pair of All-Commonwealth Conference First-Team honors (2010, 2008) and racking up numerous conference player of the week accolades during her four years in Annville, Pa. She helped lead LVC to a Commonwealth Conference Championship in 2010 and guided the Flying Dutchmen to the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament that fall.
The Camp Hill, Pa. native also had an impressive high school career at Cedar Cliff, earning Mid-Penn First-Team All-Star recogntition as a senior, being named an all-star honorable mention following her junior season, and securing PIAA District 3 All-Star accolades.
Hopkins served as the president of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for two years and graduated with a degree in digital communications from LVC in 2011.
