Several Women Place in Dickinson Invitational

Carlisle, Pa.- This morning the Penn State Harrisburg women's cross country team competed at the Dickinson Long Short Invitational against some of the top teams in the region. The women only ran the four kilometer race in hopes of training on being aggressive and running fast times in this challenging invitational. The women had some exciting additions to their squad this week in hopes to strengthen their lead pack and add depth to their team.

Freshman Ashley Peart (West Orange, NJ / West Orange High School)  led the Lady Lions with an impressive time of 16:58. Her time earned her the place of 96th in the race among some of the top girls in the region. The next top runner for our women's team was veteran Katlin Gould (Camp Hill, Pa. / Cedar Cliff), who ran the time of 18:59 and was the 172nd runner to finish the race. Newcomer Addison Lauver, an exciting addition to the team, ran in the middle of the pack to place 178th on the meet, by running 19:28.

The Lady Lions ran fast times this morning and continued to improve on their depth. With new additions to the team, they continue to better their lead pack of strong runners. It is exciting to see the team coming together as a whole and working towards improving their performances each week. With the Conference Championships just a month away, they hope compete with strength and resilience against the challenging teams of the Capital Athletic Conference.

The women will now prepare to host their 1st Annual Bud Smitley Invitational at home on October 2nd. This will be an opportunity for the Lady Lions to showcase their speed and endurance to their colleagues and fans on their new home course.
