Sechrist, House Lead Way For Ladies at Lancaster Bible

LANCASTER, Pa. – At the Charger Invitational held in Lancaster on Saturday, Oct. 12, Penn State Harrisburg's women's cross country team was led for the second-straight week by freshman Rachel Sechrist (Allentown, Pa. / Salisbury) and senior Alisha House (Crownpoint, N.M. / Thoreau).  Sechrist was the Lions' top finisher with a time of 24:58, good enough for 14th place overall.  House finished right behind her in the 15th spot with a time of 25:10.  Penn State Abington's Valerie Santangelo took home the individual trophy while her team won the overall team title as well.

Santangelo won the 5k race with a time of 21:31.  Following Sechrist and House for Penn State Harrisburg was Katryna Stegmeier (Nesquehoning, Pa. / Tamaqua Area).  The senior crossed the finish line with a time of 26:01, good enough for 19th place overall.  Freshmen Madison Sirb (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin), Kaitlyn Carmo (Palmyra, Pa. / Palmyra Area) and Rebecca Bailey (Tobyhanna, Pa. / Notre Dame) came home back-to-back-to-back for the Blue & White in 23rd, 24th and 25th places, respectively.  Senior Amelia McMullen's (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) time of 28:56 earned her 29th place and junior Katelin Wilson (Long Pond, Pa. / Pocono Mountain West) rounded out the Lion runners by finishing in 32nd.

With the Charger Invitational now behind them, the ladies' season is coming to an end.  Penn State Harrisburg has just two outings remaining on the 2013 schedule.  The Lions take part in the Gettysburg Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 19 before wrapping up the fall at the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) championship meet in Salisbury, Md. on Nov. 2.
