Salisbury Md. - The Penn State Harrisburg women's volleyball team faced off against the Salisbury Seagull's and Arcadia Knights on Saturday October 21st. The Lions started the day with a Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) contest against the Seagulls needing a positive result to keep their playoff hopes alive.  Harrisburg started strong with the first set tied at 5-5 and kept it tight mid set with a 10-12 score in favor of the home team.  Unfortunately, Salisbury took control and pulled out a 25-19 first set victory.  

Salisbury kept the momentum through the second set for a 25-17 win.  The Lions refused to give up and came out firing in the third set as both teams battled point for point.  Harrisburg took a 12-11 lead midway through the set, but were unable to hold on and eventually fell 20-25 in the 3-0 loss.  

The Lions second match of the day was against a strong Arcadia side.  Harrisburg never stopped working, but were unable to get the momentum going in their favor.  After a quick first two sets, the Lions forced the Knights to battle in set three.  The Blue and White nearly made the comeback after being down 14-22, but eventually fell 25-22.  

Harrisburg had strong performances from Melanie Sheaffer, Katelyn Hossler and Rachel Licastro who had nine kills in the Salisbury match.  Unfortunately, for the Lions, the loss to the Seagull's officially ends their CAC playoff hopes for 2017. 

The Lions will travel on Tuesday to face the Lancaster Bible Chargers, before finishing their season at home against Mary Washington and Christopher Newport over the weekend.
