Penn State Harrisburg Splits First Day of Warrior Classic

Penn State Harrisburg traveled to Williamsport (Pa.) for the Warrior Classic held at Lycoming College. The Lions split their matches on the first day beating Misericordia 3-1 before falling to York (Pa.) 3-0.

In the first match of the day, the Lions came out hot. The Lions took the first two sets behind a strong defense and a balanced attack as five Lions tallied five or more kills in the match. The Lions would drop the 3rd set before storming back and taking the 5th set 25-20 and the match 3-1.

In the second match, the Lions would face CAC opponent York (Pa.). The Lions put up a fight throughout the match, causing the Spartan's to scramble multiple times. York's blocking proved to be too much causing the Lions offense to slow and keep them off balance. York would take the match in the end 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-20).

Brittany Wolf (Stewartstown, Pa. / Kennard-Dale) led the Lions with 12 kills and 17 digs on day one of the tournament. Kari Ammerman (Troy, Pa / Troy Area) and Katelyn Hossler (Lebanon, Pa / Northern Lebanon) also chipped in 31 digs and 10 kills respectively.

The Lions will be in action tomorrow as they compete in day two of the Warrior Classic as they take on Dickinson College and host Lycoming College.
