Penn State Harrisburg Sweeps Tri-Match

Penn State Harrisburg claimed their first wins of the season as they swept their home tri-match, beating Cedar Crest, 3-0 and Albright, 3-2.

In the first Match both teams kept it close through the first part of the 1st set before the Lions would pull ahead with a 10-3 run to take the lead and eventually take the first set, 25-15. The Falcon would fight back in the 2nd set keeping it close throughout but some late errors by the Falcons and some timely kills by the Lions would end the threat, as Harrisburg would take it, 22-25. The Falcon's would not find an answer in the 3rd set as the Lions would cruse winning the set and taking the match 3-0.

In the second match, the Lions came out slow losing the first two sets to Albright 25-22 and 25-23. The Blue and White would fight back as they would take the 3rd and 4th set to tie the match up at two games apiece. Entering the 5th and deciding set the Lions started slow falling behind 5-2 early. But with help from Katelyn Hossler (Lebanon, Pa / Northern Lebanon), the Lion would tie the game up at ten. Both teams would trade points back and forth pulling even at 15 before the Lions would close the door scoring the next two points to take the 5th set 17-15 and the match 3-2.

Leading the Lady Lions was Brittany Wolf (Stewartstown, Pa. / Kennard-Dale) who led the Blue and White with 29 kills and 14 digs between the two matches as Rachale Hair (Newburg, Pa. / Big Spring) added 28 kills and Casey Stump (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) added 77 Assist on the day.

The Lions will be in action next, on Friday September 9th as they travel to Lycoming College for the Lycoming Tournament with games set to start at 4 P.M.
