Women's Volleyball Beat's Abington in Tri-Match

Abington, Pa.- The Penn State Harrisburg women's volleyball team participated in a tri-match this afternoon hosted by Penn State Abington. The Nittany Lions split the day with a loss to Hunter College and a win against Penn State Abington.

In their first match of the day, the Nittany Lions played a difficult match against Hunter. The Hawks swept the Nittany Lions after three sets, (25-11) (25-13) and (26-24). The women fought hard in the last set of the match but they could not get the win. Junior Melissa Orlandini (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) led in the first match with 7 kills and 7 digs. Her teammate, Casey Stump (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) also helped the team with 18 assists.

Harrisburg's second match of the day ended much better for the women. The Nittany Lions easily slid past Abington in the first set, (25-11). In the second set of the match, Abington played much more aggressively and led Harrisburg 17-6. The women made an incredible come back in order to win the second set (25-13). The third set was also a challenge for both teams but Harrisburg pulled out a win by winning the third set (26-24). Once again Stump led with 20 assists while Freshman Kari Ammerman (Troy, Pa. / Troy Area) had 15 digs for the Nittany Lions. Freshman Madison Chace (Paso Robles, Ca / Cedar Cliff) also led the team with 11 kills in the second match. 

Harrisburg only has one day off until their next match on Monday. The women will travel to Penn College for a non conference match at 7 pm.
