Penn State Harrisburg Tops Gators

Penn State Harrisburg traveled to Baltimore to take on Notre Dame of Maryland University, the Lions came prepared to execute and  took the match 3-1 (25-22, 25-18, 20-25, 25-15).

In the first set, the Lions came out looking to put the Gators away early.  Notre Dame had a different game plan in mind, giving Harrisburg a hard fight throughout the first set before the Lions finally claimed the win 25-22.

The Gators fought hard in the second set until the Blue and White went on a ten point run which put the second set out of reach, eventually winning 25-18.  In the third set the Gators fought back, taking the set 20-25, but the Lions went in to the 4th set with a must win mentality.  Harrisburg used an 11-1 run to start the set before closing out the game 25-15 taking the match by a final of 3-1.

The Lions were led by freshman middle hitter Maddison Chace (Paso Robles, Ca / Cedar Cliff) who recorded her first double-double of the year by recording 15 kills and 10 digs to go along with three blocks and three aces she had.  Also helping the Blue and White to the win was Kari Ammerman (Troy, Pa / Troy Area) and Melissa Orlandini (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) who made it very hard on the Gator's attack combining for 35 digs.

Penn State Harrisburg will look to continue their good start to the season this Saturday September 12th when they travel to Misericordia for a tri-match with the Cougars and Rosemont, the Lions take the floor at 10 A.M.
