Penn State Harrisburg Finished Strong in Second Day at Gettysburg

Gettysburg, Pa.- The Penn State Harrisburg Nittany Lions had a very successful second day at the Gettysburg Battlefield Classic, beating Curry College in straight sets before defeating Neumann 3-1.

During the opening set the Lions beat Curry 25-13 where freshmen Madison Chance (Paso Robles, C.A./ Cedar Cliff) and Senior Kiara Carter (New York, NY/ Milton Herhey) combined for 16 kills in the first match. It was clear the Lions did not want to go 0-2 for a second day in a row. In the second set they defeated the Colonels 30-28 before going on to take the third set 25-17.

The second match of the day proved to be more of a challenge. The Lions took the first set against Neumann 25-23. Leading the way for Harrisburg was freshmen Kari Ammerman (Troy, P.A/ Troy Area) who recorded 22 digs during the second match. She was helped by teammate Rachale Hair (Newburg, Pa. / Big Spring) who led the offence with 9 kills. The Lions went on to lose the second set 25-10 but bounced back to win the last two sets 25-21 and 25-20.
