Harrisburg drops two in Ursinus

Collegeville, Pa. – The Penn State Harrisburg women's volleyball was ahead in every set of their second match today, but eventually fell to Ursinus in three straight sets 16-25, 20-25, and 9-25. In their first match against McDaniel the lions also went down in three sets 11-25, 18-25, and 19-25.

In the Lions first match today verse McDaniel, Marion Chilpala led the team offensively with 8 Kills.  Defensively Jessica Farabaugh (Palmyra, Pa. / Palmyra Area) had a team high 8 digs and Chidere Igwe (West Orange, N.J. / West Orange ) led with 2 blocks. McDaniel outmatched the Lions on the defensive side combining for 46 Digs as a team compared to Harrisburg's 29.

In game two, Harrisburg was able to gain the advantage in every set.  Unfortunately the Ursinus Bear's quick offense was too much for Lions.  They put together 29 team kills, with 15 coming from Karla Thiele.  Harrisburg's Chilpala led the team with 7 kills, while Katie Shek (Old Bridge, N.J. / Old Bridge) did well serving and defensively with the team high 7 digs.

"We had some good defense at times, but their serving hurt our offense and our blocks were not able to contain the different hits from both teams."  Harrisburg's head coach Bob Creason stated after Saturday's match.

The lions will get a few days to recover before hosting Wesley College Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. for their first official CAC conference match up.
