DALLAS, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg women's volleyball missed out on the school's homecoming festivities thanks to the team's hitting the road for a match with Misericordia on Saturday, Oct. 13. Regardless, the ladies were up for the match and showed it with their early intensity.  Unfortunately, untimely mistakes would keep the Lions from grabbing the win as the blue and white fell to the home team in three sets by scores of 25-19, 25-8 and 25-17.

Erin Goodyear (Boiling Springs, Pa. / Boiling Springs) and Katie Shek (Old Bridge, N.J. / Old Bridge) led the defensive effort for the Lions by hitting the floor and recording 21 of the team's 38 digs.

Chidere Igwe (West Orange, N.J. / West Orange) brought most of the offensive power for the Lions with her three strong kills on the day. 

"Chidere has some strong hits and nice blocks today," said Penn State Harrisburg Head Coach Bob Creason following the match.

Unfortunately, it was more the mental aspects of the match that cost the Lions another shot at a win.

"Some early mistakes got the girls down and we just could not really recover from them," continued Creason.  "We had several series of points but just couldn't keep them coming."

The defeat dropped Penn State Harrisburg to 7-16 on the year.  The Lions next match comes this Monday, Oct. 15 when the blue and white host the only undefeated team in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) in Gallaudet.  The ladies have circled the game and will be in full upset mode against the Bison.
