CRESSON, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's women's volleyball team had been on a bit of a roll as of late, winning its last three matches by a combined score of nine sets to one.  Unfortunately for the blue and white, that recent win streak came to an end in western Pennsylvania at the hands of Mt. Aloysius on Wednesday, Sep. 19.  The Lions fell to the Mounties in three sets by the score of 25-7, 25-20 and 25-7.

Freshman outside hitter Olivia Umoren (Quincy, Mass. / North Quincy) led the way offensively with six kills.  Junior Chidere Igwe (West Orange, N.J. / West Orange) chipped in with five of her own.  Aside from those two ladies, only Miranda Jumper (Lebanon, Pa. / Lebanon), Michelle Pellechia (Allentown, Pa. / Catasauqua) and Kiara Carter (Bronx, N.Y. / Milton Hershey) were able to record additional kills for Penn State Harrisburg.

On the defensive side of things, freshman defensive specialist Melissa Ganz (Cypress Bay, Fl. / Weston) dug out the most balls with 11.  Jumper followed her with six while sophomores Erin Goodyear (Boiling Springs, Pa. / Boiling Springs) and Courtney Dimming (Elizabethtown, Pa. / Elizabethtown) pitched in with five digs apiece.

Setters in freshman Katie Shek (Old Bridge, N.J. / Old Bridge) and junior Beth Findley (New Providence, Pa. / Solanco) led the team in assists with six and four, respectively.

The loss is Penn State Harrisburg's first since Sep. 8 when they fell to St. Mary's College of Maryland in straight sets. 

The Lions will look to rebound this weekend when they participate in an all-important North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) crossover event.  The ladies take on SUNY Morrisville and SUNYIT on Saturday, Sep. 22.  They'll finish the weekend by facing the host team in Wells.
