Lady Lions Shine at ECAC Championships

New York, NY - Penn State Harrisburg Women's Track & Field team placed 10th out of 28 teams at the 2017-18 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted at the New York City Armory.  Harrisburg was led by hurdler Ashley Williams and jumper Sarah Lehman who dominated their respective events.  The Lions recorded 37 team points in the ECAC Championships.

Sarah Lehman led the team in points earned due to her stellar performance in both the triple jump and the long jump.  Lehman reached a 5.41m mark in the long jump for a first place finish and 11.45m in the triple jump to claim second.

Rae Rae Taylor showed her athletic ability in the Pentathlon.  She finished 1st in the shot put and took 3rd place finishes in the long and high jump to claim the bronze in the difficult event.

The Lions had strong showings, but Ashley Williams continued to stand out.  Her 8.89 time was not just good enough for the first place finish, but has also earned herself the right to compete in the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 10th.  Williams is headed to the Indoor Championship for the second straight year.

Penn State Harrisburg's Women's Track & Field team will cheer on Ashley this week, but won't get a break as they immediately move into the outdoor season. The Blue and White head to Susquehanna University for the Jim Taylor Invitational on Saturday March 31st
