Lions Impressive At Susquehanna

Selinsgrove, Pa- The Penn State Harrisburg Women's Track and Field team got its season off on promising note with a strong showing at the River Hawk Opener. The Lions set several school records and saw multiple athletes' post times and distances that will qualify them for the CAC and ECAC Championships.

For the field events, Rachale Hair recorded a shot put throw of 9.73 meters which was good enough to finish 3rd.

Sarah Lehmen and Rae Rae Taylor took the top two spots in the Women's Long jump. Lehmen's leap of 5.19 meters was good enough to qualify her for the CAC and ECAC championships. Lehmen also had an impressive showing in the women's triple jump, where she traveled 11.33 meters which once qualified her for the winter championships. Taylor would post the third best Women's High Jump, with a leap of 1.52 meters.

In the track events, Taylor and last year's national qualifier Ashley Williams would get off to a strong start. In the pair took first and third in the 60 meter dash with Taylor posting a top time of 8.20 seconds. Williams would have a good showing in the preliminary heat of the 60 meter hurdles where she posted a time 9.30 seconds which would qualify her for both fall championships.

After the meet, Head Coach Danielle Lynch said, "My coaching staff and I are pleased with the results from our season opener. Both teams are off to great start with them breaking nine school records, nine CAC qualifiers, and eight ECAC qualifiers. Contributions were made from all event areas and we are gelling as a team.
