Williams earns 2017 USTFCCCA All-Academic Honor

New Orleans- Ashley Williams earned a 2017 USTFCCCA All-Academic honor for her performance on the track and in the class room.

Williams was one of 608 Women’s Track and Field to earn this honor. Each of these athletes must have had a cumulative GPA of over 3.30 and either competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship or finished the regular season ranked in the national top-50 in an individual event or ranked in the national top-35 in a relay event on the official NCAA Descending Order List.

Williams officially became the Lion’s first competitor to attend the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Her road to the NCAA Championship was paved with success.  She claimed a second straight Capital Athletic Conference Championship by breaking her own conference record in the 60 meter hurdle with her 8.95 second finish.  She followed the CAC Championships with a first place finish in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship, earning her a spot in the NCAA Championship.

Williams entered the NCAA Championships ranked as the 16th ranked hurdler in the country.  Williams finished her indoor season with an impressive run that moved her up to 11th place and just short of competing in the final event.
