Lions Finish Regular Season Strong at Jim Thorpe Open

University Park, Pa. - The Penn State Harrisburg men's and women's track and field team took advantage at their final regular season outing of the year at the Jim Thorpe Open hosted at Penn State University on Friday May 6th.  Ashley Williams took a first place in the 100 meter dash while Jalen Williams took first on the men's side in the 200 meter dash. 

A few others also made the trip looking to improve on thier times and placement going into Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships scheduled for May 18-19th.  Ashley Williams added a second place finish in the 100 meter hurdles and was the only female competitor in the match. 

The men had a few athletes preparing themselves for the ECAC championships.  Jalen William's took first in the 200 meter followed closely behind by Vladhimir Theophile and Jalil Clayton who finished 4th and 5th.  Theophile also did well in the 400 meter finishing in 6th place.  Clayton had his best peformance in the 400 meter dash finishing in second just behind Division I Penn State athlete David Marrington. 

Cameron Yon took 3rd in the discus throw with a distance of 55.44 meters.  He is currently in the top ten nationally in Division III and hopes to keep the momentum going all the way to the NCAA Championships later this month.  

Penn State Harrisburg gets a week off from competition before traveling to Westfield State University Wednesday May 18th - Thursday May 19th, 2016 for the ECAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
