Athlete Spotlight: Fallon Joseph

MIDDLETOWN, PA- Fallon Joseph (Stroudsburg, Pa. / Stroudsburg) is a sophomore studying Political Science and Criminology with a minor in Philosophy. She is currently a member of both the Track of Field and Cross Country team on campus. She has run cross country since the 7th grade but she now participates in the throwing and jumping events. She is also a member of IMPACT, which provides a church environment for members at school. Outside of campus, Joseph volunteers at her local church Light of the World Church as well as Hillcrest Nursing Home.

Joseph believes that the expense of college is a big societal problem. "Education is power, people think that money is power but you can't make money without a decent education. Tuition is easy; I just feel that if school was cheaper America would be a place of more success. We would never have to hear someone having to turn down their dream college because they do not have sufficient funds," says Joseph. In the future, she would like to start a project called, 'Run for Rights,' where people will participate in a 5K run and raise money that will be donated to an education fund for students.

Joseph cites Coach Lynn as someone who inspires her. "She has a belief in me that I felt no one really had besides myself and she says I am a performer," says Joseph. Joseph's most memorable moment during her athletic career during college was running a 5K at Dickinson. "It was mind breaking and required a lot of energy and even more strength but the end result was worth it," said Joseph regarding the Dickinson race.

Joseph's favorite athlete is USA Olympian, Stephanie Brown. She admires the way she explodes and glides through her races. If Joseph had the opportunity of having dinner with anyone in the world, it would either be President Barack Obama or Anderson Cooper. "They have an amazing role in the world and I would love to see their perspectives on certain world issues," said Joseph.

Joseph enjoys listening to music, and jet skiing at Lake Wallempalmpack with her friends. Her favorite place on campus is the new soccer field. "That new field is a great place for conditioning and to just sit and watch the sun set on the outskirts of Middletown," said Joseph.
