Women's Tennis Edged By Lebanon Valley In Opener

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's women's tennis team opened its 2021-22 campaign against Lebanon Valley at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Friday afternoon, Sept. 24. The Lions were defeated by the slimmest of margins, dropping a 5-4 decision to LVC.

The Flying Dutchmen (1-1) took two of three from the Blue & White (0-1) in doubles play, with Cristina Garza and Annalisa Petrascu managing the lone victory for the home team by an 8-7 (7-3) score over Abbie Hoffer and Kendall Halsey in the No. 3 spot.

In singles action, Isabella Pizzelanti led the way with a 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 victory over Meredith Haas in the No. 2 matchup, while Breanna DeSantos went over Madison Poladian 6-2, 6-4 in the battle of the No. 3 players. Garza also topped Halsey 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 6 contest but it proved one win too few to secure the overall victory for Penn State Harrisburg.

The Lions will look to pick up that first win of the young season when they host Immaculata on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 30.
