Women's Tennis Drops Match to Albion In Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Penn State Harrisburg's women's tennis team competed in its penultimate match of its week-long spring break trip in South Carolina, dropping a 6-3 decision to Albion on Wednesday afternoon, March 6.

 

Doubles action saw two Blue & White duos narrowly edged, as the team's top pair of Sydney Nye and Elysse Mellott, as well as the No. 3 duo of Erin Harnish and Abigail Clifford, went the distance before falling 8-7.

 

In singles action, the Lions (3-6) took three of five matches from their Albion counterparts. Claire Hackenberg worked hard to defeat Katie Valade 7-5, 5-7, 10-7 in the No. 2 contest, as did Soorya Chittibabu in a 6-4, 1-6, 10-4 victory over Ellie Debo in the sixth outing. Mellott made quicker work of Saige Jost in a 6-4, 6-3 win in the No. 3 matchup.

 

The Lions wrap up their time in Hilton Head when they take on Sweet Briar on Thursday afternoon, March 7.
