Penn State Harrisburg Tennis Stumbles at Christopher Newport

Newport News, Va. – Penn State Harrisburg Men's and Women's tennis traveled to Virginia to take on the Captains of Christopher Newport Saturday March 28th.  Both teams for Christopher Newport were undefeated in conference play heading into Saturday's matchup, and undefeated they stayed as they handled the Lions 9-0 in their respected matches.

The match began for the men with the doubles pairing of Mitchell Ebersole (Donegal, Pa. / Donegal) and Chris Magee (Westminster, Md. / Manchester Valley) of Harrisburg taking on the top doubles pair from Newport.  The Captains showed why they are still unbeaten in conference play. Ebersole and Magee fell 8-1.  A similar trend continued through the match for the Lions.  Despite their efforts, the Captains proved to be too much and Newport won the Men's match 9-0.

Not much changed in the women's portion of Saturday's match.  The Captains swept the doubles matches and continued their dominance into singles play.  Freshman Jessica Miller (Manheim, PA / Manheim Central) played an impressive match for the Blue and White although coming up short losing 6-4 and 6-1.  As in the Men's match, the Lady Lions were also swept and fell on the road 9-0.

Neither team will have to wait long to attempt to rebound from Saturday's losses.  Both the Men's and Women's teams will stay on the road Sunday March 29th when they travel to Salisbury to take on the Seagulls at 1pm.
