Ladies Get Back On Track With Victory Over Chargers

Lancaster Pa. - The Harrisburg Blue and White were put to the test today against the Lancaster Bible Chargers. In a thrilling finish, the women took home their third conference win of the season 5-4, helping to keep them in the top of the conference standings. 

The lions had strong play in doubles from the team of sophomore Gabrielle LeGendre (East Stroudsburg, Pa. / Notre Dame) and senior Theodora Avramidis (Glenwood, N.J. / Vernon Township) as they defeated Lancaster Bible's Carmin Nachtigal and Kayla Nachtigal 8-0. The lions also had a win in doubles from Alejandra Portillo (Palmyra, Pa. / Palmyra) and Amanda Herr (Manheim, Pa. / Manheim Central) as they won their contest 8-5.

LeGendre also played strong for the lions in singles by defeating Carmin Nachtigal 6-4, 6-0 as did Avramidis as she topped Kayla Nachtigal 6-3, 6-1. In the fourth spot, Herr defeated Erin Buckwalter 6-3, 7-6 (7-2). The lions picked up losses as Portillo fell to Moriah Pelton in the third spot, Kacie Scott defeated Sarah Dartiguenave (Reading, Pa. / Quisqueya Christian) 6-1, 3-6, 10-7 in the fifth spot, and in the sixth pairing Tiffany Wolf defeated Erica Marousek (Baltimore, Md. / Derry Hall) 8-2.

The lions will have to carry the momentum from this strong win into this weekend as they travel to face Penn State Berks in NEAC play on Saturday.
