GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Penn State Harrisburg's Gabrielle LeGendre (East Stroudsburg, Pa. / Notre Dame) made it a clean sweep for the Blue & White tennis program when she was named the North Eastern Athletic Conference's (NEAC) Women's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week on Monday, Mar. 25. She joined her male counterpart Tyler Miller (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg) as Harrisburg tennis players who earned the honor for the week ending Sunday, Mar. 24.
The ladies swept Trinity (D.C.) 9-0 in the team's spring opener on Saturday, Mar. 23. LeGendre lost just three games on the afternoon and along with senior Theodora Avramidis (Glenwood, N.J. / Vernon Townhship) bested the Tigers' top doubles team of Shari King and Zubaydah Madyun in dominating fashion thanks to an 8-0 victory. The sophomore followed it up by defeating Lakia Meriwether 6-1, 6-2 in a matchup the teams' top singles players.
LeGendre's solo victory improved her overall record to 5-3 on the year. The ladies as a whole are now 3-5 on the season. Penn State Harrisburg's next match comes this Friday, Mar. 29 when the Lions host NEAC foe Cazenovia in the squad's conference opener.
