How It Happened

Penn State Harrisburg fell in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship game to Penn State Berks 5-0 on Sunday November 10.

Harrisburg's defense faced a tall challenge in top seeded Berks offensive attack that had scored 85 goals this season. The Lions weathered Berks first half offensive flurry behind a strong effort from goalkeeper Hannah Williams. Williams made seven saves in the contest. Berks would manage to find the back of the net in the 12th minute, after a defensive save by Paige Sharrow bounced out to Berks Emily Clapper. Clapper finished the first goal of the game. The Lions would recover and keep the game 1-0 heading into the half.

Penn State Berks would take control of the game in the second half scoring in the 63th, 70th, 77th, and 85th minutes. Harrisburg struggled to find an answer offensively. Kristen Stark and Rhyan Socash put the Lions only two shots on goal, but they could not find the back of the net. After the game Jeyda Duran, who scored the game's second goal, was named the tournament MVP.
