Coach Grubesky Spends Day with Orlando City Pride Coaching Staff

Middletown, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg Assistant Coach Rudy Grubesky recently had the opportunity to visit the Seminole Soccer Complex and the offices of the Orlando City Youth Soccer Club in Sanford, Florida.

At the same soccer complex, Coach Grubesky was permitted to observe a training session for the club's National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) team, the Orlando Pride. Tom Sermanni a former coach of the United States, Australian, and Canadian Women's National Teams coaches the team.

Coach Grubesky said, "it was a tremendous opportunity to watch a very experienced and well-known coach like Tom Sermanni conduct a training session. Coach Sermanni allowed me to be on the field and be close by as he coached the session, so I could see and hear how he interacted with his players and made teaching points. Tom and his coaching staff were also very gracious to spend time with me before and after the session, so I could ask a lot of questions."

Coach Grubesky added, "It was also really interesting to observe a professional team train and watch world class players like Marta, Sydney Leroux, and Chioma Ubogagu during the session. Alex Morgan and several other Pride players were not there because they were away on national team duties. In addition, two former Penn State and US WNT players, Christine Nairn, and Ali Krieger, are also on the team and will have a big impact on the Orlando NWSL team this season. It was a very well-organized, high speed, and competitive practice that will help me as I teach our players here at Penn State Harrisburg."
