Harrisburg Comes Up Short Against the Greyhounds

Bethlehem, Pa.- The Penn State Harrisburg women's soccer team faced a tough test this afternoon against non conference opponent Moravian. The Greyhounds had a strong first half, jumping out to an early 2-0 lead. The Lion's were able to finish a free kick in the second half but Moravian held on to their first half lead, winning 3-1.

The first ten minutes of the game were very evenly matched as both teams fought to get on the board first. Moravian was given a penalty kick in the tenth minute of play and Valarie Margiottiello converted the PK to put the home team on top at 1-0. Less than ten minutes later the Greyhounds capitalized off of a shot from the six-yard line as Harrisburg struggled to clear the ball.

Both teams struggled to find the goal at the start of the second. Moravian finished their final goal of the afternoon off of a cross from right field in the first ten minutes of play in the second. In the sixty-third minute of play freshman Madison Hemler scored her second goal of the year off of a free kick from far post. The Lion's had several chances to get their second goal of the game but struggled to find the back of the net. Goal keepers Daniella Marroquin and Erica Jensen each registered time in net and recorded a total of five saves for the Lions.

Penn State Harrisburg will look to get their second win of the season on Saturday September 10th as they host Susquehanna at 12 pm.
