Lions Missing Scorer in 1-0 Loss to Hood

Middletown, Pa. - It was a tough day for the Penn State Harrisburg women's soccer team.  After starting the first half very strong and not giving up many chances throughout the day, one free kick was all the Hood College Blazer's needed as they hung on for a 1-0 win over the Lions.

The Lions looked extremely sharp in the first half moving the ball around the pitch quick and sharp.  Harrisburg earned more than a few dangerous opportunities in the first 15 minutes, unfortunately for the home team they were not able to make anything count.  Hood took advantage of their opportunity scoring on a free kick just outside the 18 yard box in the 23rd minute to take a 1-0 lead.

Penn State Harrisburg was even more active in the second half, but lost some of the ball movement they showed in the first 45 minutes.  Throughout the second half,  the Lions attacked the goal relentlessly, but were unable to find the back of the net despite outshooting Hood 6-1 in the second half and 13-4 overall.  Hood's Goalkeeper Rachel Knoebel played well and tallied nine saves on the day.  The Lions Goalkeeper Daniella Marroquinn wasn't tested much, but did record one very quality save in today's contest.

"I am pleased with how the girls executed in the first half and the overall effort they gave us in the second half."  Penn State Head Coach Adam Clay continued with "We need to find a way to put the ball in the back of the net.  Once we figure that out and get more comfortable in our system, we will become a very tough team to beat."

Harrisburg (1-1) get's a day or two to rest and will start preparing for their road game at Moravian on Wednesday at 5:00 pm.
