Senior Day Spoiled By Seahawks

Senior Day Spoiled By Seahawks

The Penn State Harrisburg women lost a tough match with visiting CAC foe St. Mary's 5-0 Saturday.  The Lions honored four seniors prior to the game.  Unfortunately, the pregame celebration did not lift the Blue and White past the visiting Seahawks.

Prior to kickoff, Penn State Harrisburg honored their four seniors with a pregame ceremony celebrated with the senior's families.  The seniors honored included Hannah Jorich (Middletown, Pa. / Middletown Area), Fatoumata Camara (Riverdale, Md. / Northwestern), Danell Engle (Halifax, Pa. / Halifax), and goalkeeper Mackenzie Gates (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin). All four seniors played huge roles for the Lions this season and the response from the crowd on hand solidified that.

St. Mary's got off to a hot start scoring less than five minutes into the contest.  The visiting seahawks did not let up as they cruised to a 5-0 shutout over the hosting Lions.  Although it was senior day for Penn State Harrisburg, a senior for the Seahawks ended up stealing the show.   Senior forward Gillian Sawyer recorded a hat trick to lead St. Mary's.

The Lady Lions drop to 5-9 on the season, and 1-5 in CAC play.  They will look to turn things around Wednesday October 22 at home in their final home game of the season versus Frostburg State at 7pm.
