Jorich Lifts Lions Past Susquehanna

Middletown, Pa. - The Harrisburg women's soccer team bounced back from their loss Saturday at Washington College to defeat Susquehanna 3-2 Wednesday.  The lady lions struck first and were able to add two more goals before surviving a late comeback by the feisty Crusaders.

Senior Hannah Jorich (Middletown, Pa. /Middletown) set the pace for Harrisburg scoring off a corner kick seven minutes into the first half.  Following the early goal, the lions possessed the ball nicely and displayed some great attacking from the outside midfielders and defense.

In the second half, Junior Rachel Shetler (Pequea, Pa. / Penn Manor) added a second goal for Harrisburg with a bullet from deep to strech the lions lead.  Jorich was able to strike again off a deflection to improve her goal total to three on the season and improve the lions lead to 3-0.  Penn State was able to hold off a late rally by Susquehanna to pick up their third victory of the season. Junior defender Kristen Peckman was quoted after the game saying "I thought we played the most complete soccer game of our season so far. " Head coach Adam Clay must have agreed, "The girls are getting closer to playing a full 90 minutes, we looked really sharp for 60 and feel good about the improvements we continue to make day in and day out."

The lions will hit the road for the next few games starting Saturday at Elizabethtown at 1.
