Lions Jousted by Knights

In their first CAC game the Lions struggled against the Knights of Southern Virginia, who really dominated the game both offensively and defensively. The Lions gave up two goals within the first 12 minutes, the first was an assisted goal by Reilly Anderson when a pass from Meagen Varney was gathered and the shot was put in the corner of the goal. The second goal was the result of the Lions goalie Mackenzie Gates (Harrisburg, Pa./ Central Dauphin) trying to make up for a mistake made by a Harrisburg defender as she came out of the box and the ball flew past her and into the net. After recovering from the initial onslaught the Lions defense finished the half strong.

The second half started with the Knights scoring a goal just 19 seconds into the half, then they follwed up with another goal just two minutes later. The Lions were just unable to stop the Knights as they reeled off another three goals in the half to go ahead 7-0.

Head coach Adam Clay declined comment after the game.

The Lions will next be in action Wednesday, October 2nd against Frostburg State at 6 p.m.
