Four Ladies Earn All-Conference Honors

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – On Friday, Nov. 2, the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its women's soccer all-conference award winners for the 2012 regular season.  When the lists were made public, four Penn State Harrisburg student-athletes were among those honored by the league.  Junior Lyndsay Naughton (Reading, Pa. / Reading Central Catholic) and sophomore Lindsey Haldeman (Grantville, Pa. / Hershey Christian) earned first-team all-conference accolades.  Freshman Fay Ansary (Hummelstown, Pa. / Hershey) was named to the all-conference second-team while sophomore Mackenzie Gates (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) earned third-team all-league status.

Naughton, a welcome addition as a transfer this fall, has been the Lions' offensive juggernaut all season, recording team-highs of 18 goals, good enough to rank her fourth in the conference, and 40 points.  The dynamic forward also added four assists on the year.  This is Lyndsay's second-consecutive appearance on the conference's first-team list.

Haldeman was named to the NEAC's all-conference first-team for the second-straight season and has been the Blue and White's most consistent defender.  Despite excelling on the defensive end of the pitch, she made her mark offensively by scoring three goals and assisting on five more.

Ansary has been one of the conference's strongest newcomers during the 2012 campaign.  The speedy freshman scored 12 goals on the year, good enough for second-most on the team and eighth-most in the league.  She also added two assists, bringing her point total to 26.

Gates is another great addition to the squad and has been stout in goal this year as the Lions' keeper.  Despite splitting time in the net and the field, the versatile sophomore made 66 saves this fall and recorded six wins, including one shutout.  Her 23 goals allowed and goals-against average of 2.02 per game are both good enough to rank her fifth in the conference.  She also added two goals and an assist in the field.
