Dolce 22 Not Enough to Tame Bobcats

Middletown, PA – The Penn State Harrisburg Lions hosted the Frostburg State University (FSU) Bobcats on Wednesday January 31st.  The Lions played tough throughout most of the contest, but Frostburg's 13-20 from three-point land was a significant factor.  With a strong start and finish to the game, the Bobcats were able to head home with an 80-68 win despite a 22-point night from Tessa Dolce

How it Happened:

The Lions fell behind a quick 6-0 in the first minute, but quickly found their rhythm as they took the lead 7-6 with 7:13 to go in the first.  Both teams exchanged lead changes throughout the first half with Harrisburg claiming a 36-35 halftime lead. Janel Brown scored 11 of her 17 points in the first half.

The third quarter remained tight as Tessa Dolce and Shanique Mattis continued to shine for the Lion women.  With just over two minutes to play in the quarter, Mattis drained a three to give Harrisburg a one-point lead.  Unfortunately, the Bobcats finished the quarter strong hitting their second buzzer beater of the night to take a 60-56 lead into the final quarter.

Penn State kept the game within reach until the final few minutes when the strong three-point shooting night from the visitors proved to be too much to overcome.
