Lion's Cruise Past Southern Virginia for Second Straight Win

Middletown, Pa.- Senior Kaitlyn Carmo put on a show for the home crowd as the Penn State Harrisburg women's basketball team won its second straight game to defeat Southern Virginia 71-58 on Thursday January 5th. Carmo recorded a season high of 31 points to lead Harrisburg past the Knights.

Game Highlights:

-Both teams battled back and forth throughout the first quarter to hold onto the lead before Kaitlyn Carmo sank a three pointer with 1:13 to go in the first to put Harrisburg ahead 17-15

-In the second quarter the Lion's established a 7 point lead thanks to strong individual efforts from Carmo and Raven Ransom. Carmo scored 12 of the Lion's 18 points in the second quarter

-Both teams were very evenly matched in the third quarter, finishing 17 points each before heading into the fourth

-Alexis Nolan got things started in the fourth with a three point jumper to put Harrisburg ahead by ten before Ransom tallied on two more to put the Lions on top 58-46 with 7:30 to go. Southern Virginia finished two straight buckets to cut the Lion's lead to seven before Harrisburg began to run away with the game with only a few minutes to go

-The women's win tonight also signified the 100th win for head coach Ross Patrick
